When we initially started talking about “Rethinking Business Transformation” a little over a year ago, we had no idea how essential it would be as a pandemic gripped the entire world. We discuss why we needed to update our ebook, and how it has become a vital part of any company’s plans to navigate what’s next.
In July of 2019, we published a guide about business transformations entitled “Rethinking Business Transformation: Build Business Agility Throughout Your Organization to Keep Pace With Rapid Change.” The ebook detailed a modern approach to business transformation that embraces organizational changes not as a five or 10-year initiative but as an ongoing initiative.
We had no idea how important that concept would be less than a year later.
As the pandemic grew to a size many of us haven’t seen in our lifetimes, we watched as companies had to rapidly change the way their organization worked by embracing digital, becoming remote or pivoting their processes. However, a recent study from Harvard Business Review and Quartz Associates found that crisis-driven reorganizations don’t always work — with as many as 19 percent damaging the company instead.
We already knew the answer to how companies could make such vital changes without hurting their company — we outlined it in our ebook. But we had a problem: That ebook didn’t address the journey businesses were navigating today or provide examples of what transformations could look like following March of 2020. It needed a refresh for today.
In version two of our “Rethinking Business Transformation” ebook, you’ll gain a deep dive into the need for comprehensive agile business transformations. You’ll learn about all six aspects of such transformations, why they’re necessary, and how to take the first steps toward implementing changes within each. More importantly, you’ll walk away with the knowledge that, while navigating what’s next in turbulent times is challenging, it’s not impossible.
