We know it’s important to optimize your weekend to start the week again on Mondays feeling rejuvenated. This week, we’re looking at how you can also incorporate some strategies for extending that energy throughout the workweek.
When our energy levels are drained, we become exhausted, sometimes irritable or even lethargic, and less enthused in our daily work and home lives. But no one except maybe the Energizer Bunny should ever be expected to be “Still Going!” 24/7. So, how can we harness those moments of peak energy to fuel us through those lower-powered days?
1. Bite-sized Chunks
Use your calendar to schedule 20 – 25-minute blocks of time to focus on one thing at a time. Sometimes the easiest way to overcome a seemingly insurmountable task is by breaking it down into bite-sized chunks.
2. Schedule Breaks
Schedule five to 10-minute breaks into your calendar just like you would a task – and stick to it! Even five minutes to stand up and stretch or make yourself a coffee or tea can help reorient your mental space.
3. Reward Yourself
When you’ve accomplished a milestone, fulfilled a complicated request or successfully navigated a difficult situation, allow yourself a small indulgence in whatever way means the most to you. It could be a nice dinner, a fresh haircut, maybe a small gadget or accessory – whatever it is, you’ve earned it.
