Staying true to our core values, our National Modern Workplace Practice donated over $1,600 to local Detroit non-profit, Gleaner’s Food Bank.
One of our most exciting accomplishments in 2021 was launching our Detroit practice. But it’s not all business – we live by our core values, igniting a passion for the greater good wherever we go.
Recently, a team from our Modern Workplace practice planned a retreat to the Detroit area to support the launch. However, because of COVID-19 concerns and recommended healthcare best practices, they had to cancel their trip.
That didn’t cancel their desire to help the community, though.
Sue Meyer, Operations Manager for our Modern Workplace team, suggested raising money to support Gleaner’s Food Bank, a local Detroit non-profit and Feed America member.
Meyer said, “My parents raised me with the fundamental belief in supporting others. Over the years I’ve carried that into my family, teaching my children we can help by donating time, goods or money.”
The team enthusiastically embraced Meyer’s idea. In two short weeks, the team raised a total of $835 for Gleaner’s.
“I was not prepared for the generosity the team showed in these two weeks!” said Meyer. “Working for Centric and with this team, who embrace giving as part of the company’s core values, makes my heart burst with gratitude!”
In further support of the initiative, Modern Workplace Practice Lead Joe Hartsel matched the team’s contribution, bringing the total to $1670. That translates into 550 meals for the Southeast Michigan and Detroit communities that Gleaner’s serves.
