Centric Consulting held a virtual roundtable to share experiences about how companies have transitioned into a remote work mindset.
Last week, we led a virtual roundtable of 40 CHROs, CIOs or CTOs from 30 companies adopting flexible remote work models. They shared details of their journey and benchmarked progress and challenges against others.
As we continue with a series of upcoming roundtables, we’ll explore the most popular topics. We welcome new participants, so please reach out if you’re interested.
Here’s some of what we learned in our first roundtable discussion:
After six months of the COVID-driven, work-from-home experiment, many companies realize that employees are adapting (despite challenges such as home-schooling and sharing internet bandwidth). In many cases, employee satisfaction and productivity have increased. And, as companies plan for their “new normal,” they are reducing their office footprint and reconfiguring remaining spaces as collaboration hubs.
There are some challenges, though. With employees working longer hours and not taking vacations, employee wellness is high on the list of priorities. Chief HR Officers in the roundtable talked about creative benefits to support the whole person. Also, the onboarding of new employees has been a major challenge. Companies are hiring and onboarding new employees without meeting a single person face-to-face. Pulse surveys show that new hires are far less connected to their new employers.
