Our Chicago team hosted their most recent 3PM Community of Interest event last month. Here are their insights from the meeting.
February 8, 2022 – Chicago, IL — For over 10 years, Centric Chicago has hosted a 3PM (Project, Program and Portfolio Management) Community of Interest event in which PMO executives participate in roundtable discussions and presentations from industry leaders.
To kick off 2022, the team featured a virtual presentation from a one of our clients, a major insurance provider, discussing how they implemented a full transition from Skype to Microsoft Teams in just 16 weeks.
After learning Microsoft would retire Skype for Business in July 2021, the company was tasked with implementing a new tech solution in quick order. Alongside Mark Paulson, People & Change Co-Lead for our Chicago practice, and Michael McNett, Teamwork Lead for our National Modern Workplace practice, the client sponsor for this project talked through approaches and challenges they faced throughout this process regarding technology and organizational change management.
Topics discussed at the meeting included:
- Adapting to accelerated technical discovery and planning
- Working with a lack of data standardization and finding a “single source of truth”
- Implementing Microsoft Teams governance and security
- Defining a “Campaign-Focused” Change Strategy
- Establishing a Change Champion Network across a decentralized organization
- Developing An Agile Communications Toolkit
The event was a highly collaborative session that included local executives interacting and discussing their experiences. One of the hot topics of the afternoon: The success of this migration required a focus on people. You cannot force change on employees and be successful. Sustainable change occurs with employees’ active engagement and ability to educate themselves across a variety of channels.
Centric Chicago will continue to host 3PM Community of Interest events throughout the year. We gather the best in the business to discuss topics such as Portfolio Management, Agile Transformation, Benefit Realization, Evolving PMO Delivery Models and more.
