Two Centric Experts to Present at CodeMash 2013
Sandusky, OH – October 24, 2012 — Bill Klos and Centric Architect Parag Joshi will be speaking at CodeMash 2013, a unique event that educates developers on current practices, methodologies, and technology trends.
They cover a variety of platforms and development languages such as Java, .Net, Ruby, Python and PHP. CodeMash was on Tuesday, Jan. 8 to Friday, Jan. 11 at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio.
Session with Bill Klos
Bill’s session, “Applying Pizza Delivery Lessons to Emergency Helicopter Dispatching,” will present a case study for building a set of custom applications to request and monitor emergency helicopters for use in hospitals.
This cloud app project was built with a hodgepodge of parts: Heroku, Ruby, Sinatra, CouchDB and Redis. And for our user interface: a native iOS app running on iPads – with a JSON REST API tying it all together.
The session will answer questions such as: “Where does pub/sub beat queuing?” “Do I really need to cache my REST calls?” and “Why doesn’t this scale – I added more memory?”
Session with Parag Joshi
Parag will be leading the “Introducing Android” session. He will review Android basics and walk through building an application to display data from a web service. The session will also cover async tasks and how to cascade async operations.
Additionally, attendees will learn how to store and retrieve settings in applications as well as review a variety of aspects that come in play when designing an android enterprise application.
