DataTune is a premier conference dedicated to the dynamic world of data management and data analytics.
Three Centric Consulting data experts will present a session at DataTune Nashville 2024, a two-day event that brings together data enthusiasts, experts and innovators to explore the latest trends, techniques, and technologies shaping the data landscape.
Set for March 8 – 9 in Nashville, DataTune is tailored for data professionals, with a myriad of presentations on topics such as GenAI, data engineering, machine learning, database management, analytics, visualizations, and more.
Among the list of distinguished speakers are three Centric data experts: Becky Gandillon, Josh Higginbotham, and Matt Gordon.
Making Data and Analytics Fun
Becky Gandillon, Data and Analytics Practice Lead in St. Louis, will present twice.
Gandillion will conduct a full-day pre-conference workshop called “Your Data Super-Power: Data Storytelling,” which will discuss the practice and basics of entering the world of data storytellers by making data engaging, fun, relatable, and actionable.
In her second session during the main conference, “Hacking Your Vacation: Using Data for Fun,” she’ll dive into how you can make data-driven decisions to level up your family vacation from awful to awesome. She’ll walk attendees through analyzing data sources to avoid crowds, save money, and piece together a Disney World vacation that’s enjoyable for everyone.
“Data storytelling is the real-world skill of translating numbers and analyses into things normal humans can (and want to) understand. It’s a skill that’s hard to find and difficult to cultivate because storytelling is an art and a science,” she said, adding that her presentation will help people start down the path of telling stories with data.
A Presentation for ETL Developers Transitioning to the Cloud
Josh Higginbotham, Senior Architect, Data and Analytics, and Microsoft Data Platform MVP, will present “Modernizing ETL: Leveraging Azure Databricks for Enhanced Data Integration.” Higginbotham’s session is tailored for ETL developers transitioning from on-premises to cloud environments.
“We’ll dive into the world of Azure Databricks, showcasing how it reshapes common ETL patterns for more efficient and scalable data integration,” he said. “This session will guide you through the nuances of Azure Databricks, offering insights into its powerful features and how you can apply these to streamline your ETL processes.”
Preparing for a Successful Cloud Migration
Matt Gordon, Senior Architect and Microsoft Data Platform MVP, will present “Ground to Cloud: Your Migration Success Checklist.” Gordon’s presentation will help participants currently migrating to the cloud by zeroing in on critical items that need to be prepared, executed and completed to ensure a successful cloud migration project.
“Even with experienced project leadership, it can be very difficult to know that all preliminary preparations are complete. Worse yet, with such a large and complicated project, it can be very difficult to know when the project has actually been successfully completed,” he said, adding that everyone could use some help sorting through the enormous pile of work.
