We created an app for our employees, read more about why and how we did it.

Part two of a series.

We recently announced an internal initiative to help our employees make a difference in their community by using digital payment technologies.

Thanks to a lot of hard work from our Shared Services, Marketing and Digital Technology teams in Cincinnati, Columbus, Miami and Tampa, we have launched the Centric Connect Charitable Giving Platform.

Now, our employees with an Apple Pay or Android Pay compatible smartphone can make a charitable donation to nonprofit organizations that, like Centric, are committed to making a difference in people’s lives.

This is a first for Centric, the management consulting industry and the communities in which we live.

Centric Connect Platform

As the concept of “going to work” has moved from a physical office location to an increasingly virtual and digital workforce, we needed a better way to engage with our employees in a way that was flexible and transparent without clogging their email. A higher number of our younger employees, as well as the proliferation of bring-your-own-technology, also implied a more flexible, iterative approach was needed. This was bigger than building an app.

Centric employees have been using the Connect mobile app to access three things:

  • Company-wide and location-specific directory of contacts
  • A personalized dashboard of news and information, which is customized according to each employee’s business unit location
  • Birthdays, anniversaries and new employee announcements

Employees now have a fourth use for the app: To make a financial donation to their favorite charitable organization through mobile payments.

To participate in the program, charitable organizations need to have an existing relationship with Centric Consulting. Organizations also need to complete a secure, one-time registration on our website that takes just minutes to complete and requires creating a Stripe account.

Why Charitable Giving Matters

Given that igniting passion for the greater good is one of Centric’s core values, we saw this as an opportunity to apply some digital technology innovation and a “mobile first” mindset to charitable giving and social responsibility.

We understand there are many options for people to donate to charitable organizations of choice, but we wanted to build social purpose into the activities of our daily lives by using the mobile wallet that’s in your pocket.
