Kris Moniz recently shared insights with Aaron Bock, host of Opkalla’s IT Matters Podcast, on the importance of data strategy in your organization and steps to building one.
This year is going to be another one where businesses are centered around data and analytics. Aaron Bock, Opkalla’s IT Matters Podcast host shared stats around recently released products: for those beta testing Microsoft Copilot, 78 percent felt they were more productive, and for developers using GitHub Copilot, 20 percent felt they were more efficient.
As these types of products continue to grow and build on productivity and efficiency, organizational leaders will need to prioritize their large-scale data strategy. Kris Moniz, National Data and Analytics Lead, joined Bock in discussing everything from building an organizational data strategy to using a business plan, data and AI, security risks with large language models, compliance laws, the cloud, and more.
“One of the things we constantly advise clients on is that they are collecting, creating or partnering with others that are acquiring data on their behalf every day, and depending on the business they’re in, the volume can be relatively small to humongous. Every bit of that data has value, you just don’t know what that value is yet.”
“Any time you have an opportunity to make a decision on ‘should I be retaining that data or letting it disappear into the ether,’ the answer needs to be always to retain it. Because you have no idea three years from now if that data suddenly becomes the difference between you growing five percent or 50 percent.”
