Centric Cleveland Participates in Cleveland Foodbank’s Produce To People Event
Cleveland, OH – August 11, 2012 — Members of the Cleveland team participated in the Cleveland Foodbank’s Produce To People Event, a monthly event that provides fresh produce from food trucks to anyone who needs it with no strings attached.
Produce To People runs May through October. This particular event was in partnership with the City of Parma Heights, the Cleveland Foodbank and the Parma Heights Food Pantry.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., trucks with surplus food arrived. The Centric team helped set up tables, unload pallets and prepare for the event. Each table was set up with a specific food item and the goal was to distribute it all to those in need. The Centric team also manned the food stations, talking to people who approached and passing out food and bottled water to keep cool in the hot weather. Some volunteers helped carry the bags of food to the cars.
A surplus of food was available at the end of the event, which is not always the case. So, in good Centric fun, the team held a competition to see which station could pass out more food – zucchini lost and cucumbers won!
Last year, the Cleveland Foodbank partnered with 53 different member agencies to host more than 350 Produce To People Distributions. Learn more about Produce To People
