In the late 1990s, I left my job at a big consulting firm. It had been my first job out of college, but my wife, Kristi, and I had just gotten married and started thinking about a family. We needed a better work-life balance.
At the time, the energy and utility (E&U) industry was undergoing sweeping changes, especially electricity deregulation. I teamed up with Dave Rosevelt to start Practical Solutions, Inc. (PSI), primarily to serve E&U clients.
One of my first tasks was to develop mainframe utility code compiler technology for utility companies. As PSI grew into Centric Consulting, I gained more opportunities to solve our client’s problems from a data perspective.
In 2008, I moved to the financial side of Centric, where I used data to improve systems and processes for our company. The systems I helped build provided the financial resiliency we would need to work through major disruptions, such as the 2012 recession and the 2020 pandemic.
Today, Kristi, and I have three great kids and a houseful of cats and dogs. I am grateful now to have time for them, and time to keep using data to ensure that Centric is running efficiently and that all employees are treated fairly.
