Chris presents on the topic of Agile/ Scrum and its application for Quality during a recent ASQ Student Branch dinner meeting

Centric Miami’s Certified Scrum Master, Chris Martinez, had the opportunity to speak with several graduate and undergraduate students from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) on Tuesday, April 19, for their monthly American Society for Quality (ASQ) meeting.

Chris was asked to give a presentation on the topic of Agile / Scrum and its applications to Quality. Prior to the start of the meeting, a light dinner buffet was served and Chris was able to chat with the students and faculty, Dr. Stephen Kramer. A few of the graduate students had heard of Agile / Scrum in their professional careers, but most of the students were new to Agile / Scrum, which made for good discussion and interesting questions.

While Agile / Scrum is primarily used in software development, a few engaging students asked about the other fields where it might be applied. Still others were interested in developing their own mobile apps and wondered how they might leverage Agile / Scrum in those efforts.

By the end of the session, it was clear that the basics of Agile / Scrum were firmly within the grasp of most of the students, and hopefully a handful of them would take the next step and become Certified Scrum Masters themselves,” said Chris. “I welcome the opportunity to do similar presentations at NSU in the future.”

Kim Caruthers, Centric Miami’s Practice Lead, is also a faculty member at NSU, teaching graduate classes in Project Management to the MBA student.
