InformationWeek recently featured Kris Moniz, Centric Consulting’s National Data and Analytics Practice Lead, in an article discussing trends in data analytics. In it, Moniz emphasized the importance of data governance in the age of AI.
The article, “Current Top Trends in Data Analytics,” highlights the latest approaches and methods in data analytics, including cross-company data sharing, data-centric analytics, integrating AI and machine learning into analytics frameworks, and focusing on data governance and quality.
Moniz weighed in on data governance, noting that it should be a top concern for all enterprises. “If it isn’t yours, you’re heading for a world of hurt,” Moniz warned.
Moniz also highlighted the need for data governance as enterprises implement AI. “Without a mature data governance practice — and the supporting data management processes it dictates — any attempt to broadly add new AI capabilities will result in massive collateral damage,” he said.
Data governance goes beyond simple access control, encompassing comprehensive data definition, quality assurance processes, and the establishment of frameworks that align disparate systems across common domains.
