On Saturday, June 7, Kerri Cohen and David Williams of Centric Chicago participated in the Chicago Carers Serve-a-thon, the largest single day of community service in Chicago.
Five thousand volunteers participated in this one-day event, resulting in 20,000 hours of service.
The team of Kerri Cohen, Andy Cohen (husband), David Williams and Hayden Williams (son) painted classrooms at the Jonathan Burr Elementary School. The group worked with other volunteers to change one room from peach to yellow and pitched in with other rooms being painted blue.
“Serve-a-thon is a day of teamwork, fun and celebration,” said Kerri. “It’s also a day of tremendous impact. You give your time and talent for one day, but your contributions will live on In the halls and classrooms of schools, where students will be reminded daily that people believe in them; in the seniors with whom you interact, who will fondly remember sharing stories and memories; and in the public parks, which will be transformed into more fitting spaces for neighbors to gather.”
