Members of Centric Cleveland Help Raise $2,300 For Project YESS
Cleveland, OH – May 13, 2012 — Centric partnered with Drinks for Do-Gooders, an organization founded by Anne Kelly, a Centric Manager in the Cleveland office, to help raise almost $2,300.
The money raised benefits Project YESS – Youth Empowered to Succeed through Sailing.
Project YESS was established to give teenagers the opportunity to spend a week sailing on a 150-foot tall ship. Teens tie ropes, keep watch and sleep in hammocks while learning to work together as a team. Funds for this project are certainly needed – participation costs $1,500 per student. The goal of Project YESS to find students who possess the leadership skills needed but who would not be able to afford the experience on their own.
The Drinks for Do-Gooders event was held at Market Garden Brewery in Ohio City. Tickets were $20, which included a free drink and appetizers.

About Drinks for Do-Gooders
Drinks for Do-Gooders was founded in 2010 by Anne Kelly, a Manager in the Cleveland office, as part of her involvement in her local Rotary Club. Drinks for Do-Gooders raises money for local Northeast Ohio nonprofits and charitable organizations through quarterly happy hours. For a $20 cover charge, attendees get a free drink and appetizers. In addition to the cover charge, there is typically a raffle for a prize such as a flat screen TV or Southwest Airline tickets.
In two years Drinks for Do-Gooders has raised $10,000 for local organizations in need, partnering with the Rotary Club of Cleveland and the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club to support Coats for Kids and “Explore the Community:”
- In November 2010, instead of charging money to attend Drinks for Do-Gooders, the cover charge was at least one children’s coat. The Cleveland team helped raise more than 40 coats for Coats for Kids, whose mission is to provide new winter coats for children in need.
- In June of 2011, Centric co-sponsored the “Explore the Community” event and helped raise more than $1,400. “Explore the Community” is a program run (and self-funded) by two Cleveland teachers whose classroom offers life skills like grocery shopping, money management, and public transportation training to students with Autism, Down Syndrome, and emotional handicaps. The money raised helped pay for a new contract for therapeutic riding sessions.
