Work Experience
I Lead DEI at Centric, which means I embed diversity, equity, and inclusion companywide by designing strategy, curating programming, strengthening culture, convening stakeholders, and partnering with Talent Acquisition and Talent Management.
I have over 25 years of experience in the private and non-profit sectors and education leading transformative and equity-based work. In the decade prior to joining Centric, I provided over 100 Universities, Corporations and School Districts with Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Title IX and Multicultural curricular content, culture and climate auditing, strategic plans, and curated facilitations.
I am a DEI&B subject matter expert with the capability of leading the journey of any organization or institution from infancy in their journey to maturation and the accomplishment of goals.
Get to Know Me
I am a jazz aficionado and culinary enthusiast. I truly enjoy exploring culture through food and pairings with local spirits. You are born of my tribe if Bourbon and BBQ in Kentucky or Brie and Champagne in Paris come to mind (smile). The only entity that recognizes my authority is my son’s Fluffy Frenchie, Kota. My son, Kamau is a Morehouse College graduate, entrepreneur, and proud girl dad to Parker (who is truly the boss of all of us). My greatest challenge currently is not being outsmarted by an elementary schooler.
I love travel and beaches with trade winds. I am by nature curious and by nurture intellectual. I credit intellectual pursuits with providing a platform for my globetrotting. I have studied in America, Africa, and Europe. Next stop, Asia perhaps South Asia to work with our team in India or support our expansion somewhere new? I hope so!
Best Piece of Advice
The best piece of advice that I was ever given was provided by my father who said, “never ask if a mosquito can pull a plow, just hop on and enjoy the ride.” This phrase keeps me focused and clear that force, faith, and fortitude are the catalyst that make miracles possible. I never quit.
