Mehani Hakim is a Senior Consultant with Centric India’s Data Analytics team, working as an ETL Developer. She has been with Centric for almost four years and has eight years of experience in development and analysis technologies such as SQL, Oracle, Snowflake, Azure, Matillion, Microsoft BI Stack and Power BI.
Currently based out of Delhi, India, Mehani is a Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate with a Master’s in Computer Applications from Indraprastha University, Delhi. She has developed a keen interest in interior designing and decorating, and she loves reading and exploring mountains.
What’s your story?
Steve Jobs said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.” When I started my professional journey post my master’s degree, I had no clue that I would be consulting in the data-driven industry a few years down the line and churning random data into some cool information to help clients improve their business. All I knew was I had so much love for data and an eye for minute details. Over the last eight years, I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey.
What’s the best feedback you’ve ever received?
The best feedback I have received is to be the reason for someone’s happiness. Lately, I have realized it is very important to appreciate the people and things around you.
This time is difficult for everyone, and the smallest joy can be the reason to bring a different perspective to their lives.
Why did you decide to become part of your field?
Studying data and analyzing the trends was something that has always intrigued me.
Starting my journey in 2012, I was chosen to be trained as a Datawarehouse trainee, and it all began from there. In the past eight years, I have seen Data Analysis roles grow, and this field has gained immense popularity since then. It is here to stay and rule.
How are you guiding clients right now?
I am playing with data and trying to understand new tools that have come up in the market. Using my experience to validate the scenarios in the new tools is a challenge, but this can help them make better decisions.
What, in your opinion, do companies need the most help with right now?
- Providing Work-Life Balance to their Employees
- Maintaining wages, even at less than full pay
- Lending money to employees.
What do you think they should be thinking about next?
It’s time to think about the big impact the pandemic had and how to deal with such crises in the future.
What are you looking forward to in your industry?
I want to learn and contribute to the measures companies will take up to combat future crises. I really feel companies should be well prepared to automate things and be “calamity ready” in terms of technology and management.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be and why?
I would choose my home as it the best place to be right now. Getting time to spend with your loved ones is something that I will opt for.
