In this blog series, we asked employees three questions about each of our seven core values.
Here’s what Anirudh Kejriwal had to say about igniting passion for the greater good.
“If we can intervene early in the lives of unprivileged children and provide them good educations, they will grow up to have better opportunities.”
What does igniting passion for the greater good mean to you?
This core value embodies the commitment to fostering a culture of philanthropy and social responsibility within Centric. I would consider myself and people working in Centric as “privileged,” because we have the means to live a better life and have opportunities to be successful and grow in life.
However, many in our communities are not so lucky, so I would like us to devote some of what we have (money, time, knowledge, and so on) to those less fortunate. For this to happen, we need to bring together people who are passionate about community service and social responsibility and give them a platform to drive programs that will help the underprivileged communities around them.
As we do this, more people in the company will want to participate, and this will ignite the passion further for people to do good.
How do you ignite passion for the greater good in your work?
At Centric India we have designed an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility program with an aim to serve the communities around our office and where our employees live.
We are focusing on child development, education, and women’s empowerment. We believe if we can intervene early in the lives of unprivileged children and provide them good educations, they will grow up to have better opportunities for themselves, which will not only improve their lives but also the lives of their families and communities.
For example, one of the programs we have initiated is sponsoring 15 primary school children for their education with an established non-profit NGO, Vidya. Vidya’s mission is to empower and transform lives through education. Our goal is to sponsor these children through their entire schooling and to increase our sponsorship as we grow as an organization, so that in 10 years we will have children graduating from Vidya school, thanks to Centric India’s sponsorship program.
How do passion for the greater good in your personal life?
My wife and I have committed a small percentage of our income for charity, and we provide donations to different non-profit organizations throughout the year. Like Centric’s initiative of transforming lives through education, we have also committed to sponsoring child education, and currently we are sponsoring three children in an individual capacity.
