This Magic Monday, we pause to celebrate the small victories that pave the path to bigger milestones.
Celebrating large accomplishments is so important. When we recognize the hard work that went into achieving a meaningful personal or professional milestone, it fills us with joy and reminds us that the long path we took to reach our goal was worth it.
But this doesn’t mean we should neglect to celebrate the small steps along the way.
Tess Miller is a life transition coach who defines small victories as “anything you accomplish that aligns with your intentions.” In this article from Lifehack, she describes why we should celebrate small victories in the first place by breaking them down into four categories. Summarized, these categories are:
Low energy equals low motivation. Small wins – like a meeting where you address all of your agenda items or when you make significant progress toward a larger project – are worth recognizing. When we celebrate those small achievements, we become more motivated to achieve even more.
2. Personal and Professional Growth
Acknowledging small steps taken along the way helps remind us how far we’ve come and provides a reason to continue. Growth is a process. Recognize and respect that the process doesn’t happen all at once.
It can sometimes be easier to celebrate what others have accomplished before we even think of our own accomplishments. But the truth is, when we value and recognize our own contributions, we’re telling ourselves, “You’re worth it.” You don’t have to wait for anyone else to define your value. You already know.
Celebrating small victories is one way of showing gratitude. Gratitude and pride for what you or your team accomplished. Those brief moments to appreciate and recognize even little achievements will ultimately lead to greater overall happiness.
Find ways to celebrate yourself and others this week by recognizing small victories along the way! While it may seem insignificant when it’s just a drop at a time, each of those drops eventually fills an entire bucket.
