Carmen Fontana talks to EdTech Magazine about how cloud computing can benefit K-12 schools when they use the best solution for their needs.
While it may not be the first place you think to use cloud computing, K-12 schools can significantly benefit from its implementation. However, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Carmen Fontana, Centric Consulting’s Modern Software Delivery lead, recently spoke with EdTech Magazine about things school systems need to consider when adding cloud as part of each district’s storage needs.
One of the more essential points to contemplate is data security.
The article reads: “Commercial cloud solutions all offer assurances of privacy, but given the sensitivity about student data, it’s important to read the fine print. ‘It’s typically a shared-responsibility model: They secure part of the system, making sure people don’t have access to the data centers,’ Fontana says. ‘But determining who has access to the applications themselves and encrypting data being moved to the cloud are the school district’s responsibilities’.”
