On March 5th and 6th Centric Cincinnati sponsored the University of Cincinnati (UC) Carl H. Lindner College of Business Case Competition. Six teams consisting of five UC MSIS and MBA students competed to submit a request for proposal (RFP) for a real-life business problem.
After receiving the RFP at 9 p.m. on March 5th, the students were able to meet with a group of eight from Centric who acted as advisors. With less than 24 hours to complete research and analysis, the teams were required to work under a time-critical deadline to find a strategic solution.
And The Winner Is…
The event culminated with the teams’ presentations on March 5th at 3 p.m. Each team presented their work to their “client” played by UC Professor Vivek Choudhury, and Centric’s Steve Bernicke and Andy Park. After careful consideration, the winning teams were chosen. Centric was excited to recognize the first place team with cash awards of $500 per student and second place teams with $100 for each team member. The second place team received an additional $100 cash award from the university.
Taking first place was the team of Tumal Karunaratne, Linea Olsson, Aarti Ranganathan, Saikat Banerjee, and Vijayaraghavan Ravi, for their solution that included building a roadmap consisting of three horizons over the course of 10 years. Second place was awarded to the team of Gautam Saaraswath, Vikram Ramachandran, Akshay Bhalla, Natalie bullock, and Sosena Erco.
Connection to Community
I am thrilled that Centric is able to sponsor and engage in the UC Case Competition. It means a great deal to me personally. I believe our connection to the community in which we live and serve is vital to our continuing mission of helping people and organizations be successful; ultimately it is vital to our growth as a Centric business. By having great relationships with higher education institutions, we can help nurture aspiring professionals early in their careers.
