A mobile concept created by several leaders of Centric’s Mobility service offering was chosen as a finalist in Citibank®’s Citi Mobile Challenge 2014.

The team, including Jason Miller, Chris Martinez, William Klos, Matthew Sheets, Graham Savage, David Anderson and David Andrade, presented their “Mobile Withdrawal” solution to key decision makers across various areas of Citi (Digital Banking, Technology, Operations, Citi Ventures) on Friday, Nov. 14 in Miami.

The concept was chosen in the competition category of “Innovative Mobile Solutions,” which asks for innovative consumer-focused apps that can be integrated with the Citi Mobile platform.

Centric’s solution enables customers to use a mobile phone to securely ask a parent or friend for money, have them approve it and then withdraw the money from a bank’s ATM machine through the use of beacons, or wireless sensors, without having to use an ATM card. The app utilizes Centric’s BlueBeak development framework to:

  • Find the location of the nearest ATM and provide turn-by-turn directions
  • Send alerts when the customer gets close to the ATM for withdrawal (using beacons)
  • Provide general information about each ATM location

Winning teams can be eligible for cash prizes and will have the opportunity to be invited to explore a commercial relationship with Citi.
