Centric Columbus is proud to be a corporate sponsor for the inaugural Per Scholas Golf Scramble fundraising event on September 11th. The event will raise funds to help Per Scholas provide free technology education, training and career opportunities for people who are unemployed or in low-wage jobs.
Centric will also sponsor a four-person team in this best ball scramble event being held on September 11th at the Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, OH. In addition to the scramble, golfers will get the chance to compete in challenges like the longest drive, putting, and closest to the pin, as well as a 50-50 raffle.
Per Scholas was founded in 1995 as a neighborhood-based effort to increase access to personal computers. It was an early pioneer in bridging the digital divide for families and children in the South Bronx — the nation’s poorest Congressional District. Since launching it’s first IT course in 1998 over 4,000 students have been served with more than 800 individuals to be served through Per Scholas programs in 2014.
The Columbus Per Scholas site launched in 2012 and has graduated seven classes, a total of 131 students in all. Columbus has a graduation rate of 88% with 75% of graduated students employed in the IT field.
