About Per Scholas
Per Scholas was founded in 1995 as a neighborhood-based effort to increase access to personal computers. It was an early pioneer in bridging the digital divide for families and children in the South Bronx — the nation’s poorest Congressional District. Since launching it’s first IT course in 1998 over 4,000 students have been served with more than 800 individuals to be served through Per Scholas programs in 2014.
The Columbus Per Scholas site launched in 2012 and has graduated seven classes, a total of 131 students in all. Columbus has a graduation rate of 88% with 75% of graduated students employed in the IT field.
